Painter Naomi Crowther first found her muse at nine years-of-age, when she joined a group of artists who set aside one room in their house as a canvas for their dabblings. ‘It was most exciting to paint on the walls without getting into trouble. Since then, painting has been a major part of my life,’ says Crowther.

But the 33 year-old paints with a much broader brush. Following the advise of a Sydney curator, Crowther has entered her work in some of the most prestigious art competitions in Australia, including the Wynne (Landscape) and Sulman Art Prizes at the Art Gallery of NSW and the Dobell Prize for Drawing. She was named finalist in the Hills Grammar Art Prize with two of her popular Lake George Landscapes. She also was a triple finalist in the 2005 Canberra Art Prize, and won the Royal Canberra Art Show best print award for 2007.

In December 2004 Crowther exhibited with Geoff Dyer (2003 Archibald winner) at Aarwun Gallery in Canberra. Her works are hung in private and corporate collections locally and internationally, including a substantial Australian Government acquisition of six landscape paintings in October 2006. The artist was invited to show her Poppy series, a theme she has painted along with her Arum Lilies since August 1999, at Pymble Gallery in Sydney. New works will be on show from March 2008.

Crowther’s Summer exhibitions at Artespresso, Canberra, have sold out twice. An invitation to re-exhibit has culminated in the artist’s December 07 show; “Mid Summer Poppies” was her 6th consecutive annual exhibition at Artespresso.

Following the sell out of her 2005 ‘Lake George’ show at the Forrest Inn Gallery, Canberra, Crowther was asked to exhibit her sumptuous, stylised landscapes again in November 2007, with her "Landscapes Revisited" exhibition.

The artist resides and paints in Queanbeyan, NSW with her husband Jay, baby boy Austin, two wonderful whippets and of course a studio cat.
